Tatal lui a murit de la o supradoza de heroina, iar mama lui, o evreica originara din Rusia, l-a familiarizat cu budismul inca de cand era copil si incercand sa-l imite pe Buddha, a tinut multe posturi negre incepand de la 11 ani. Se pare ca stie ca va muri in 2024.

David Blaine interview: ‘I have another decade before something goes wrong’
„I have been fasting since I was 11 years old,” he says. “I read Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse as a boy. My mum read it to me. I was intrigued when he stood in the rainforest for days and nights without food. Could I do the same? I started experimenting.”
Blaine was born in 1973 and brought up in Brooklyn by his mother, Patrice White, who was of Russian Jewish descent. His father, William Perez, an Italian-Puerto Rican veteran of the Vietnam War, was not part of his childhood. Blaine once said that his father died of a heroin overdose.
